Task 1

Consider the given joint probabilty distribution for a domain of two variables (Color, Vehicle) :

Color = RedColor = GreenColor = Blue
Vehicle = Car0.11840.12800.0736
Vehicle = Van0.04440.04800.0276
Vehicle = Truck0.15540.16800.0966
Vehicle = SUV0.05180.05600.0322

Part a: Calculate P ( Color is not Green | Vehicle is Truck )

Part b: Check if Vehicle and Color are totally independant from each other

Part A

Calculate P ( Color is not Green | Vehicle is Truck )

=P(ColorGreenVehicle=Truck)

=P(ColorGreenVehicle=Truck)P(Vehicle=Truck)

=0.1554+0.09660.1554+0.1680+0.0966=0.6

Part B

Check if Vehicle and Color are totally independant from each other

P(ColorGreen)=1P(Color=Green)P(ColorGreen)=10.1280+0.0480+0.1680+0.0560P(ColorGreen)=0.6
P(ColorGreen)=P(ColorGreenVehicle=Truck)

So Color & and Vehicle are independent from each other
